Delicious and Easy Healthyier Fruit Roll-Ups

This is a recipe I make in my dehydrator but you can easily make it in your oven at the lowest setting on your oven which is either going to be 140 or 170. We make this quite often – particularly all summer long when we want healthier snacks “on the go”. Large jar of applesauce (50-60 oz) 2 boxes of jello (regular or sugar-free – whatever flavor you want) Mix the two ingredients together and layer (thinly and as evenly as you can) on sheets for the dehydrator.  If you are using your oven you can layer on parchment paper on cookie sheets for the same result. Warm at…

Vans Gluten Free Rotini and Red Sauce

My kids love pasta – but their medication has also caused them both to gain weight – significant and unhealthy amounts of weight. We have not completely transitioned to gluten free but we are much closer to it than we ever were before. This gluten free Rotini and Red Sauce by Van’s is my kids’ favorite meal to date.     I am more than happy to oblige their love of this meal because it is easy to make and we don’t have dinner battles. The pasta itself is red – the first time we made this the color caught me off guard. But we forged on –…

    Sous Vide and Eating Raw

Over the years I have dabbled in Raw Food diets. I actually prefer this method of eating when I have time to dedicate to it. One way of cooking when following a Raw Food diet is Sous-Vide…     Sous-Vide is a method of treating food by partial cooking followed by vacuum-sealing and chilling. When I first start dabbling in eating raw – I had to buy books, lots of books. Over the last several years I don’t even know where all those books ended up.     Nowadays – I just need to go online and I can find anything I am looking for including Sous-Vide recipes… Eating raw…

    Slicing Pineapples Easily

I feel like I hit a jackpot with this tool. My family eats alot of pineapples and I am always the person who slices them up. They become slippery and messy and it is definitely not my favorite job. This pineapple tool peels, cores and slices though – all in one tool. I love it. The handle clips into the tool and provides a really nice grip. Cut the top of the pineapple off. Then I place the tool on top and while pushing down I simply twist the handle.     This action causes the blade to grab the pineapple while rotating and slicing. When I encounter resistance…

    Slice a Watermelon Easily

Summer is coming and that means certain fruits will be in abundance. Watermelons are definitely one of those fruits – we can’t seem to get enough of this juicy, delicious fruit in the summer months. We tend to always have some on hand. How do you slice watermelon?     This slicer makes really easy work out of slicing up a watermelon.   I hate cutting up watermelons. I have tried so many different methods and could never find just the right method that made it tolerable. This watermelon slicer is awesome. Today was the first time since the beginning of winter that we were able to find watermelon at…

    Silicone Oven Mitts

This post contains affiliate links   Sili-Mitts Silicone Oven Mitts I have many pairs of silicone oven mitts and I love them. Part of my attraction to the silicone mitts is the colors – they are so rich in color and attractive. They don’t get stained very easily and they work very well at keeping my hands protected – generally from getting burned.     But why is this pair so special (because it definitely is)? And why am I telling you this is a pair of mitts I will never be able to live without again – sort of like heated seats in my car – never again…  …

    Parmesan Oven Crusted Potatoes

Okay so who here doesn’t LOVE potatoes! Believe it or not my kids were not the biggest fans until each were about 8 or 9. I can’t imagine what took them so long. To be fair though we don’t cook a ton of potatoes – the whole limiting carbs business. Gone are the days of potatoes with every meal, the way I grew up. Now it seems to be a rare treat.   Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.   For this recipe I used small red potatoes and cut them up into chunks. You could probably use any potatoes but I really love red potatoes.    …

    One Pan Dinner

All In One Pan Dinners   My husband helps do a great deal of the cooking in our house – I am always running around with so many other things and he is always willing to do cooking for the family. We are huge believers in all in one pan dinners, crockpots, pressure cookers and more. So much can be achieved with these methods and they are so easy to warm up as leftovers during the week when we are busy running to meetings, doctors appointments, horseback riding and more. There never seems to be enough time to do all that we want to do.   You need chicken…

    Making Laundry Detergent

This pots does contain affiliate links     I do a ton of laundry. Until recently we had ten people in our house as well as four dogs – one of which has accidents on her bedding so we do three loads per day just for her bedding. I was spending a fortune on laundry detergent. It was easily getting out of control. There had to be a better solution – well there is! I started making my own.   There are many recipes online if for some reason you don’t like this one but I will tell you why I like this – first it is very inexpensive. Each…
